The artist who designed Standing Blue had a flair for the dramatic. With its compact shape and flat shoulder it resembles one of those fabled laps from the Thousand and One Nights. The teapot is a dark blue green and stands on three legs. The shoulder is adorned with an array of hieroglyphs in white, which also appear on the napkin-ring shaped handle. The top is exquisite: larger glyphs are raised in green blue against an off-white background with crackle. This is a striking teapot with splendid detail.
